PROJECT 07
Situated in central London, the apartment had remained untouched for several decades, with services and infrastructure that were obsolete and inadequate for contemporary standards of living. The intervention commenced with a complete strip-out to shell and core, enabling the comprehensive renewal of all building services and systems, seamlessly integrated within the apartment interiors.
Timothy Hatton Architects led the architectural transformation, introducing bespoke detailing and a refined material palette that redefined the spatial and aesthetic qualities of the apartment. Key elements include a cantilevered stone staircase that forms a sculptural focal point, finely crafted stone fireplaces, a custom-designed glazed lift, and fibrous plaster ceilings with integrated lighting coves that articulate and elevate the interior volumes.
The spatial arrangement places the principal living areas on the lower ground floor, opening directly onto a private garden. These spaces, comprising the living room, kitchen, study, and dining area, are unified by generous ceiling heights and a consistent architectural language that balances material richness with spatial clarity.
The ground floor houses the apartment’s main entrance, leading to a broad stone staircase that descends to the lower level. This floor also features the primary bedroom suite, along with additional bedrooms, each meticulously designed with a keen attention to proportion, natural light, and material finishes.
The project demonstrates a consistently high level of craftsmanship and architectural precision throughout, establishing the apartment as one of the most accomplished examples of contemporary residential design in London.
